Ever since the events that unfolded in Paris, France throughout the 14th of November, it's clear that the context for the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has been dramatically altered. Regardless of the motivations of the senseless attacks, one thing is clear, that many wish to show that such acts of terror will not inhibit the progress of such events like COP21. Both François Hollande and Barrack Obama have stated that they both want to show that the world will not be afraid of extremists. It is also clear that, even though most events are still scheduled to take place, fear surrounds the coming events.
As time passes, and the mourning continues, many are beginning to look deeper into the motivations behind the attacks. This, of course, will not be fully understood for some time, but as for now, Paris finds itself at a crossroads of hope and fear.
